Over the last week and a bit my life has been consumed with task #1 on my list, quitting smoking. It is unbelievable how much something as stupid as smoking has completely affected my life. It has constantly been on my mind since giving up but the good news it is starting to get easier, hurrah! I can't wait to actually be able to refer to myself as an ex-smoker.
Sunday 4th August- I made an epic roast dinner, my kitchen promptly looked like a bomb site. It is impossible to cook a roast and not use almost every dish in your cupboard!
Monday 5th August- I am a huge Harry Potter fan. The books are incredible. J K Rowling's writing style is something I admire. I was genuinely gutted when the last book came out so when she announced that Pottermore was being created, I was so happy. This site lets you explore the books chapter by chapter and you can collect things for potions etc. you can have battles with other houses, get sorted into a house, get a wand, go shopping down Diagon Alley. It is all incredibly geeky but I love it. The best thing is that J.K. has written new material that includes a lot of back stories on the characters that creates more depth. Reading the new material on Remus Lupin, who is a werewolf, was amazing. He is one of my favourite characters and it was quite heart breaking to hear about how he became a werewolf, the constant struggle the condition gave him, his family and him being ostracised because of it etc. It held remnants of so many things, race, aids, sexual orientation etc. it really is amazing.Tuesday 6th August- Downloaded this app to help me with quitting smoking. first step of #1 on the list
Wednesday 7th August- My husband decided he wanted to quit smoking too so we made a treat chart to keep us motivated. It's amazing how much money it actually is. I can't actually get my head round how anyone can afford to smoke straight cigarettes instead of roll-your-own, which is what we smoke, they cost about £8 per 20!
Thursday 8th August- My tobacco was almost all gone so this was my last 8pm roll up.
Friday 9th August- My eldest daughter's caterpillars had turned into chrysalides.
Saturday 10th August- Interesting sweep from the charity book shop!
Sunday 11th August- Cotton wool clouds
Monday 12th August- My eldest giving me huge cuddles as I was struggling a bit from withdrawals at this point
Tuesday 13th August- Hubby struggling from lack of cigarettes.
Wednesday 14th August- My daughter has this beautiful dolls house, which is really pretty and girly and it's full of monster high dolls, love how rock and roll my kids are!
Thursday 15th August- Another step towards #2
Friday 16th August- My orchids are blossoming so lovely, quite proud that I have actually helped the growth of such a high maintenance flower!
Saturday 17th August- Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire, this line still gives me chills every time I read it.
So the last two weeks have been mostly consumed with not smoking and Harry Potter, wonder what adventures I will have next.
